The Dr. Scientist BitQuest is an astoundingly full-featured multi effect in an incredibly tidy 125B package. There are eight onboard effects, each with Clean and Dirty modes, and each patch contains some seriously powerful controls that make the BitQuest a joy to play.
These modes are Flanger, Fixed Filter, Bitcrusher, Reverb, Notch Filter, Ring Modulator, Pitch Shifter and Delay—with Dirty versions of each. An extremely powerful Tone control governs all patches, as well as a Mix control and the requisite Volume knob. Bought separately, these effects would command a king's ransom, quite a hefty bounty in the market.
There are three control (Ctrl) knobs on the face of the BitQuest—0, 1 and 2—and each adheres to a different parameter depending on which mode the unit is set. In Dirty modes, Ctrl 0 is always a gain control.
Speaking of gain, the BitQuest has PLENTY. Dirty mode is for the bravest adventurers, for the raw power of the beast is rapidly apparent upon entering its lair. This mode gets LOUD. The distortion side of the BitQuest is very nice, as well. It's not something one might expect from a pedal that also contains Pitch Shifter and Reverb modes, but because it's the good doctor at the helm of this crusade, we knew the party was in good hands the second it left the adventurers' guild. The Dr. Scientist BitQuest is hand-forged, one at a time in Canada.
It accepts a standard 2.1mm 9v center-negative Boss-style power adapter. The current draw is 80mA—ready for all isolated power supplies offering that much current, check your manual. 20-sided die not included.
This pedal has been well over a year in the making, I had to learn a whole new programming language to make it, (Spin FV-1 based) and it's really weird and fun._ The BitQuest is a simple multi-effect pedal, no menus or presets, but it has 8 different weird and cool effects and enough control to be quite powerful._ This is a really experimental and creative pedal, full of adventurous sounds.
